By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang 2 Thessalonians 3:5KJV And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ Love is a decision; it’s a decision because it can be directed. What this world in their wisdom has come to understand as love is not really love but a love which has fallen short of its standard. Love is not a desire, it’s much more than that. The people of this world often confuse love with desire. Love is much more than a desire, it goes beyond like If love is a desire and like for a person, Jesus couldn’t ask you to love your enemy. What is there to desire and like about your enemy? If two people in a marriage will understand love, there will never be a divorce. Whenever there is a divorce, it presupposes that at least one of the spouses never understood love. Love will produce desire but desire is not love. God doesn’t say don’t desire a person, what He wants us to understand is that desire is not love. The men in Israel could divorce their wives when they didn’t desire them again. They will find all excuses to divorce them. They encountered Jesus and He explained to them that they didn’t have love, they had a stony heart. “He said unto them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, suffered you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it was not so…….Matthew 19:8KJV” Love is not just a desire, it is a spiritual substance, it is a spiritual substance like faith is. The fact that this unique spiritual substance has been shed in your heart doesn’t mean you will walk in it. Being a Christian doesn’t automatically mean you will love God, you have to direct that love towards God. You don’t love God just because you go to church. Jesus knew that so He said “He that hath My commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him…..John 14:21KJV” Having the Spirit of love is one thing and directing that love towards God is another thing. Even though you are a Christian, you can direct your love towards wordly things. This is why he tells the Christian, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world…..1 John 2:15-16KJV” Love is a choice, you decide where to direct that love. So Paul prayed for the Christians at Thessalonica that their love be directed towards God. “And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ” This is why God’s judgement system is fair, this is why His reward system will be just. This is because every Christian had the choice where to direct their love You may direct it towards worldly things or Kingdom things. Turn the rudder of the heart and direct that love appropriately.
