By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Revelation 2:9KJV Till you meet a servant of God who will be bold to tell you the truth, the Christian will not understand the purpose him having money in this pleasant life. There are Christians who measure their lives by money, all this is borne out of ignorance. There are also some preachers who twist the Word of God so that the church will condone their life of luxury. Money in itself is not bad but understand its true purpose. Jesus said to a Church in the New Testament, “ I know your poverty(but thou are rich). What did He mean? How could they be poor and rich at the same time? The Master was saying the same thing that James said “For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?…….James 2:5KJV” Those Christians, on the natural plane of life were poor but Jesus was pointing them to the inheritance that they have in His Kingdom. There are Pastors who have been twisting the Word of God for so long, especially when it comes to finances. This all is because of their love of money. Though God blesses man with prosperity in this current world, to Him this not the true riches. For God, anything that is perishable is not really the blessing He delights in. This is why Jesus distinguished between the two main kind of riches. “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?…Luke 16:11KJV” Again He said, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal….Matthew 6:19-20KJV” Christians have to be wise. If this is what the Jesus whose name some are using to condone and preach a life of luxury thinks, be the judge. When He blesses you with much, it is not for luxury but for the work of righteousness. What life did Jesus live on earth? Jesus said, “All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you….John 16:15KJV” Jesus said that all things were His but on one occasion was inshort of money to pay tax and had to perform a miracle. How much dinari did Jesus have in the treasury? Now when the Christian says that all things are his, the understanding he has of that is to build mansions and buy fleet of cars. They have lost sight of the spiritual essence of life, they don’t understand why they are presently on earth. The Paul who made that statement to the church, how did he live and what did he say to Timothy? “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;……1 Corinthians 3:21KJV” “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.And having food and raiment let us be therewith content…….1 Timothy 6:6-8KJV” Don’t be deceived. There are people dying everyday and living the mansions that they built. Go for what will really matter at the end. Go for what will really matter in your eternity. Don’t be deceived; life does not end on earth. God bless you!
