Devotion (The Trumpeter):
Depart from evil

2 Timothy 2:19KJV

 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Christianity is a call to oneness with the Lord Jesus. We have become so identified and inseparable from Him. He represents us in heaven whilst we represent Him on the earth.

The Christian is Jesus’s reference point on earth. You are His reference point in that country, the city, that family, the company, in that street, wherever and any spot you may find yourself, you have become the reference point of the Master. People can only refer to Him on earth by referring to you. This is how united we are with Jesus. We are so identified and united with Him, both in name and authority.

Paul says,

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular……1 Corinthians 12:27KJV”

Yes! We are His dwelling place, the very address of Jesus. Your body is the very address of Jesus on the earth.

This is why the Christian ought to be careful about his conduct and walk in life. You cannot and should not entertain any form of evil

The Christ whose body you are is the very image of the Almighty God, the God who is Most Holy and distinguished in righteousness. Hence you can’t name and be named after Jesus and go on living in sin. It’s unacceptable.

John the Apostle says,

“If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him….1 John 2:29KJV”

Christianity is a call to do righteousness; it is not just a proclamation of being righteous. If you proclaim to be righteous then live it out.

What happens to Christians who do the talk but don’t walk the talk? John says that shame awaits such at the return of Jesus.

“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming….. 1 John 2:28KJV”

Therefore, depart from evil!

Confession
