2 Peter 1:20-21KJV

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost

Ministers and Christians alike should be very careful how they interpret and teach God’s Word. He doesn’t take it lightly when His message is wrongly conveyed. He may wink at ignorance but there comes a time that God wont put up with it.

James says,

Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly]….James 3:1 AMP”

This is why the first key for being in a fivefold ministerial office or position should be because God has called you, not because you desire it or others want you there.

The Bible says,

And no man taketh this honor unto himself, except he that is called by God, as was Aaron….Hebrews 5:4KJV”

Never seize on God’s callings. Just be where and do what He wants you to do.

Now, the secret to accurate and correct interpretation of Scripture is being interested “only” in God’s intention and motive for that prophetic utterance. This is where some Ministers and Christians get it wrong, leading to diverse contradictory Scriptural interpretations.

I may make a statement which can have different meanings depending on the context. Not knowing the context in which the statement was made, you can give me your own logical interpretation which makes a great deal of sense to you and I will tell you that you are wrong because I never implied it that way.

This is one of the reasons that some Ministers teach incorrectly. Truth is not  necessarily what makes sense to you but what God intended when those prophetic statements were made. You don’t have to ignore the context within which the statement was made. This is why in your linking of verses together, you have to make sure that there is a sychrony of their contexts. There are Ministers who link Scriptures together ignoring contexts and this is what has led to many wrong doctrines including a rapture of the Church before the great tribulation.

Peter says,

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”

That is, this knowledge should be of first importance in your Scripture interpretation. What Knowledge, Peter?

He replies, knowing that the utterance of the Scripture came by the inspiration of God and not by the wishes, intentions and desires of men.

For instance, the Christian may desire “rapture before the tribulation” but is that what God intended when those prophetic utterances were made?

The Focus should always be on God’s wishes, intents and desires, not man’s or the Minister’s

God bless you!

Confession

I believe with my heart that Jesus is the very Son of God that He came to die for me and was raised up by God the Father. I confess Him as the Lord of my life from this day forward. Hallelujah!  I am born again
