By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang Matthew 6:24AMP “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord]. Who are you serving? Is it God or money? What drives you in your day-to-day life? Is it fame, status and the glory of men? Then you are in idolatry. You have made those things your god. What should drive you in life as a Christian should be the heavenly vision and not earthly things. Prosperity comes from God but the Christian should understand the purpose of it and shouldn’t measure himself by money. We live in times when some Christians measure themselves by money and possessions. This is how they quantify success. It’s a shame and sorrowful. Stop in your tracks and change if you are in such a sect. These are people who have been overcome by the spirit of worldliness. There was a church in the book of revelation that acted and thought like that. To them they were very successful because they had accumulated much wealth. “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: ‘These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot.So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth.Because thou sayest, “I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing,” and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable, and poor and blind and naked,….Revelation 3:14-17KJV” The Christians in the Church measured themselves by money. They saw themselves a success because of the great material possessions they had. This church had a pastor, who taught them every Sunday/Saturday; they went to church to hear messages being preached from the pulpit. It’s like some of the churches of today; some Christians think that because they go to church, their salvation is secured. A big No! It matters the Church you attend and what is taught to you. Apparently, the Pastor may have been as ignorant as the flocks and wasn’t teaching them wisdom. They thought themselves a success but Jesus saw them differently. What matters is how He sees you and not how you see yourself. They were Christians and thought themselves as very rich and successful but Jesus said to them “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot.So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth.Because thou sayest, “I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing,” and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable, and poor and blind and naked,” Jesus said, “you say that you are rich and have a lot of possessions and don’t know that your true status and identity is a people who are wretched, miserable, poor and blind and naked” This was the Master’s description of a church. How will He describe you and your church? He referred to the Church as vomit; they were so disgusting to Him. This is because this church served mammon. They served money. They were living for money and didn’t understand Christianity and the true purpose of their prosperity. Be careful of the Church you attend and the message preached to you. God bless you!
