James 2: 19KJV
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

For the Christian, “I believe and know that Jesus is the Son of God” is not enough.
“I know and believe that Jesus is the savior of the world” is not enough for you, the Christian. When you knew Him to be God and all that, how has that changed your attitude towards life? This is and will be the determining factor

To believe and know that Jesus is the Son of God is nothing more than what devils already know and believe. Devils also believe and know that Jesus is the Son of God. They know it more than even some Christians.

James says,
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” You think because you believe that there is only one God and that Jesus is the son of God, you have done something that no one has ever done and think your salvation is secured. Well, know that demons also believe the same thing. You haven’t done anything more than the demons by that.

When Jesus walked in Galilee, demons acknowledged Him as the son of God so James is very right. This is where James realized that even demons know who Jesus is

“And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God….Luke 4:33-34KJV”

Why then are demons not saved even though they acknowledge Jesus to be who He is ? This is because even though they knew God and Jesus to be who they are, their ways and works didn’t corroborate with their belief.
This is why James describes any Christian who thinks faith alone is enough to be as vain as the demons themselves. So James says,

“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?…..James 2:20KJV”

There is a certain Gospel which has been going around certain Christian denominations communicating to them that since they believe in Jesus their salvation is secured irrespective of their deeds and works. This is not true and may take some Christians to hell.

A lady cannot say that I know and believe that I am a female and then go to the boutique to buy male clothing for wearing. In the same vein, the Christian cannot say that I believe Jesus has gratuitously made me righteous and then go living in sin. If you believe Jesus has made you righteous, you have to do what righteous people do. An animal cannot say I am a cat and then go barking like a dog.

Jesus corroborated what James said when in the book of revelation, he warned Christians about their works. Faith without corresponding works is no faith.
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: ‘These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth…….Revelations 3:14-16KJV”

What proof do you need again as a Christian that corresponding works are the
driving force of faith? “I know and believe that Jesus suffered for my healing” is not enough. You can even be singing songs on that and still not enough. You think demons don’t know that God is a healer and Jesus suffered for the healing of sicknesses but when you were sick or there was a pandemic what did you do?

You see some Christians have not truly understood faith including their pastors.

They think they do but they don’t. Faith is of the heart. If you truly believe, the actions will show. If you are pretending too, you know deep down your heart. No one needs to tell you, you will know because that doubt will cause you to do something or say something.

If it is true and genuine faith, the works and deeds will corroborate. It always will

God bless you!
