1 Corinthians 3:3KJV

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

When you become a Christian, you are supposed to think and live differently but this was not the case of the Christians at Corinth, they were yet carnal. They lived from the standpoint of the senses, they walked as ordinary men.

The wisdom of the world was what governed their way of life. They did and saw things the way the people in the world did. They were still subject to the spirit of worldliness. What kind of a Christian are you? Are you yet carnal?

Paul asked,

Why are you still carnal? They went to church, sang songs and praised the name of Jesus but were still carnal. Christianity is more than going to church, it is a life. This is what many have not understood, they have not been trained.

Paul said,

“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory….Colossians 3:4KJV”

Christianity means that Christ has become your life, you cannot think or see life differently from the way He sees it.

For instance, Jesus said

“Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth…….Luke 12:15KJV”

There is more to life than money, material possessions, education and career but do you see life this way? If you don’t, you are yet carnal.

The one who is going to judge the world says that this is not how He measures life. How do you measure your life?

The carnal mind is an enemy of God; God cannot and will not show Himself strong in the life of the carnal Christian. It matters how you think

Wisdom says,

“The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men………Proverbs 24:9KJV”

The thought of foolishness not just the act is sin, be careful of what goes through your mind

You can go to sleep and never wake up because of your thought pattern.

“And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? …. Luke 12:12-16KJV”

How do you think? You ought to think and reason differently now that you are a Christian.

He says,

“ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth…. Colossians 3:1-2KJV”

Where are your desires, interests and affections? What drives you in life? Are they carnal things or heavenly verities?

There are Christians who think that they are naturally predisposed to like certain things or have certain affections but it is not true. All your likes and dislikes were something you adopted and learned over time.

This is why if you were to be born in a different culture or country, you would have grown up liking different things.

In the same vein, you can train yourself to set your affections on heavenly things. It’s a choice you make.

God created you, He understands that machine called man than you yourself therefore God will not expect anything from you that He thinks is impossible.

Therefore, anything God has asked from you as a Christian you should be able to do if you will work at it.

God bless you!
