James 3:14-15KJV

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

You cannot allow certain things and pretend to be living the Christian life. You cannot be engaging in that which belongs to the devil and pretend to be living the true Christian life. You may deceive others but not God.

James says, “when you allow these things in your heart, don’t be boasting”. You can’t go about boasting about your Christianity, when these things are in your heart.

There are Christians who are in competition with others; they even exhibit such behaviors in the house of God. They want to out do one another, full of envy towards one another. They mind earthly things, unnecessary and vain things.

They think because they call themselves Christians, attend church services, preach and sing songs to God, He must be happy about their lives.

These folks don’t reflect the wisdom and character of Christ. Christianity is not about church going but manifesting the wisdom and character of Christ.

As a Christian, you have to understand that there is two major kinds of wisdom at play in this world. There is divine wisdom and devilish wisdom. What they call fleshly or carnal wisdom really is devilish wisdom. If you trace it long enough, you find satan at the end of it. There is no middle ground. It’s either you are demonstrating devilish wisdom or divine wisdom.

You cannot pretend not to know for God has defined what is devilish and that which is divine.

Envy, selfishness, pride, arrogance, bitterness etc. are all devilish. He says,

“But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish”

He tells us what divine wisdom is made up of,

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy…..James 3:17KJV”

Divine wisdom is full of mercy and good fruits. There is impartiality when it comes to divine wisdom. She doesn’t put the rich above the poor or vice versa. They are all held equally accountable when they do the same thing. When the rich are treated differently from the poor in the church, it’s not divine wisdom but devilish.

So the same James says,

My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?….. James 2:1-4NIV

In other words, James was saying to the Christians, choose divine wisdom. Your joy as a Christian should be in demonstrating God’s wisdom. Why will you want to associate yourself with the devil? You associate yourself with the devil, when you demonstrate devilish wisdom. You are a Christian, a born associate of Christ and need not do that.

Moreover, divine wisdom doesn’t exude hypocrisy. She doesn’t say and preach one thing but acts differently. He doesn’t confess righteousness whilst living in sin. She is sincere and honest. Such is divine wisdom.

Jesus didn’t like the attitude of the Pharisees. He called them hypocrites because they presented outwardly what they weren’t inwardly. They were masquerading

The carnal Christian is the one who though a Christian fashions his or her life after the wisdom of this world, a devilish wisdom.

Get rid of the wisdom of this world! Get rid of devilish wisdom!

God bless you!

Confession

I believe with my heart that Jesus is the very Son of God that He came to die for me and was raised up by God the Father. I confess Him as the Lord of my life from this day forward. Hallelujah!  I am born again
