Jesus answered the scribe, the first and most important of all the commandments is
“ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:……….Deutronomy 6:4KJV”
There is a reason why the master emphasizes that this is the most important of all the commandments. It is the principal and starting point of wisdom. There are denominations of Churches who don’t even understand what they are saying when they erroneously teach about the doctrine of trinity, they present the Godhead as three different Gods working in unison. This is blasphemous to say at least, just that some do it without understanding the import of it.
To say that there are more than one God is to say there are many truths.

But we mean that they are three different Gods but agree in everything, this too cannot be true because it is a contradiction. They cannot be different Gods but agree in everything. It means that such denominations have not fully understood what truth really is.
“ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:……….” God is not three but one.

So Paul had to say,

“For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him…….. 1 Corinthian 8:5-6KJV”

Polytheism is paganism and it has also found its way into the church. This is why the gentile world has different philosophies of truth, the moment there are many gods, it implies many truths.
Monotheism is christianity and it translates to one substance of truth, one God and one truth.
This is why it has been God’s desire for all his children to come to oneness of truth and of faith and knowledge.
“until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]….Ephesians 4:13AMP”

There is one God, one truth and one life
