By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang 2 Corinthians 7:9KJV Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorrowful, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For ye were made sorrowful in a godly manner, that ye might receive injury from us in nothing The Spirit said through Peter the Apostle, “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; …….1 Peter 4:11KJV” If anyone preach or teach, let it be consistent with the utterances and Words of God And Paul said to the Thessalonica saints, “ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe……….1 Thessalonians 2:13KJV” Paul says, what we preached and taught are in truth the oracles of God Therefore, if you find any preacher or teacher of today saying anything not consistent with what Paul, Peter and the other Apostles taught, he cannot be speaking for God So Paul says, “Ye are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,…Ephesians 2:20KJV” We live in times that Christians ought to be very careful; this is because there are a lot of wrong messages being propagated There are those who go about telling Christians that because Jesus has paid for the past, present and future sins, they are not to be sorrowful when they sin. They preach a message they call automatic forgiveness. This is to mean that the moment the Christian sin, he is forgiven so no need to be sorrowful about that sin. They call it Amazing Grace. Well! You don’t understand grace more than Paul the Apostle. These kinds of messages if not controlled may take many Christians to the Lake of fire. It is because of these wrong and cunningly crafted messages that all forms of sins are condoned in the Church. When the Corinthian church condoned fornication, Paul was very angry and wrote them an epistle to harshly rebuke them. These Christians upon the reception of Paul’s letter became very sorrowful for the sin they had entertained. This was Paul’s response upon hearing of what his letter did to those Christians “Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorrowful, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For ye were made sorrowful in a godly manner, that ye might receive injury from us in nothing. For godly sorrow is not to be repented of, but worketh repentance unto salvation; but the sorrow of the world worketh death….2 Corinthians 7:9-10KJV” Paul said that these Christians being sorrowful for their wrongdoing was a sorrow after a godly manner, one not to be repented of. For such kind of sorrow is good and appropriate. Paul, the Apostle of the Grace gospel didn’t say that because of grace they need not sorrow to repentance. When you commit a sin as a Christian and you are conscious of it, you feeling bad about that deed is an act of humility and God sees that heart. You sorrowing about it translate to you saying that I am not supposed to live like this; this is not my identity in Christ. I am and supposed to be a child of righteousness. It becomes an acknowledgement and a confession of your righteousness in Christ. It doesn’t mean that you don’t know that Christ died for sins. This is why John said “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness….1 John 3:9KJV” God bless you! Confession I believe with my heart that Jesus is the very Son of God that He came to die for me and was raised up by God the Father. I confess Him as the Lord of my life from this day forward.
