Devotion (The Trumpeter): How serious are you about God's business?

Romans 12:11KJV 

 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

God is not only interested in you serving Him but how you serve Him. How serious are you about God’s business? There are Christians who have not been taught properly about the work the Christian is to carry out on earth. They think it is an additional work to do. No! As long as Jesus is concerned, this is and should be your main business on earth. You are going to be assessed on it when He returns.

He says,

“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”

In your serving the Lord, you are not to be sluggish, lazy, backward and tardy. He demands eagerness and earnestness, you are to give all diligence.

You are to be boiling inside about His work. When the Laodicean Christians were lukewarm and distracted by the things of this world, they were despicable and useless to Jesus. I am not saying it, the Lord Himself said it. Therefore, be careful. Jesus is not as many have assumed. Yes! He is loving and gracious yet He doesn’t joke about His Work.

There are Christians who serve Jesus in their comfort zone, they choose how to serve and do His work. Be careful and change your ways. He is the Lord and you are the bondservant. The servant doesn’t choose what to do, His Lord tells Him.

There are some of you, you never mind distributing devotionals and tracts but will never preach the Gospel  to the sinner, you are shy. This problem is mostly found with ladies. It is good to share and distribute devotional but this is not all you are to do. You are to personally talk about Jesus to others.

He says,

“Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels…..Luke 9:26NIV”

Did you hear what Jesus said? Be serious! What will be your excuse for not talking about Jesus to others when you have been marketing your business and making presentations in school and at the job place.

“Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:……..Matthew 25:24-26KJV”

He doesn’t condone laziness

You have to understand that you are a servant left on earth to carry out a business for the Lord Jesus and He warned you about the cares of this life and the decetfulness of riches. Don’t allow these to distract you from the assignment given you on earth.

“ He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful…..Matthew 13:22KJV”

You are supposed to be productive in Kingdom work. If you are not, a care of this world is distracting you

You have to understand that this world is coming to an end but what matters when a man dies is how much He lived for Jesus while on earth. Living for Jesus doesn’t mean going to Church, it is much more than that.

Are you a profitable servant or a useless one?

Don’t be offended by the tonation of my presentation, this is how serious Jesus is about His work.

“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:………..Revelation 3:14-17KJV

This is the same wrong teaching going about in many churches of today where Christians are made to think that Jesus is happy with them because they are prospering. Well! they are deceiving you. Having an abundance of material possessions and money doesn’t mean that Jesus is happy with you. The laodiceans were also very rich christians. They were the millionaires of their day. There are much more important things in life than money. What matters is that which Jesus thinks.

Don’t be slothful, take the Kingdom business very seriously.
