2 Peter 3:18KJV

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!

As a Christian, God tells you that you have a responsibility in how much grace you can access. It’s not all up to God like some think. He instructs us to grow in grace. Will you grow in grace? The grace of God in Jesus is superabundant and overflowing. There is grace for health, finances, ministry, for everything but how much we can access doesn’t only depend on God but us. He says, grow in grace.

There are different dynamics when it comes to grace but today I want to talk about one. One key element to growing in grace is faithfulness. Are you faithful with what you already have? As long as the current measure of grace in your life has not produced the required fruits of righteousness, God is not going to release more. So faithfulness to what we already have is key to increasing in grace.

Paul grew in grace because what was granted him was not in vain, he labored earnestly.

“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me……..1 Corinthians 15:10KJV”

For instance, you may be a pastor and God has put you in charge of a work, how seriously you take that work is what is going to determine if He will give you more influence or work to do. It won’t come just because you desire it. God rewards faithfulness.

He giveth more grace but to the faithful

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble………James 1:6KJV”

Who is proud? The proud doesn’t submit himself to God’s word. He is self-willed and does things the way he wants them to be done. He doesn’t care about what the Word of God has to say. He is proud and self-willed. Such a person is never going to increase in grace. There are ministries whose influence never grows and will never grow because of this.

It comes down to your own personal life. You want God to give you more money? Have you been faithful with what He has already given you? Or have you been selfish and self-centered? This is what is going to decide.

God considered Paul that He was going to be faithful before choosing him as an Apostle to the Gentile nations. He was not just going to choose because it was in his destiny. There are people who never got what was in their destiny because when God considered them, He knew they were not going to be faithful. Faithfulness is very important to God

“According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;…………..1 Timothy 1:12-13KJV”

Jesus counted that Paul was going to be faithful before handing him such an important responsibility. Can God trust you?

Be faithful with whatever He has put in your hands. How do you become faithful? It’s by using that thing or carrying out that role according to the dictates of His Word, not according to what pleases you or other people.

God bless you!
