1 Corinthians 13:13KJV

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

When you study the Bible, you find out that there are different sets of truths. One of such is faith, hope and love. In this set of truth, the dominating note is love. Love is the greatest.

Paul says,

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing…..1 Corinthians 13:1-3NIV”

No matter who we are, what we have or do, if it is not informed by love, we are nothing. It will profit us nothing at the return of the Master. Love is the greatest. Love is greater than knowledge, faith, prophecy, mysteries etc. Love is wisdom because the secret to wisdom is love. The secret to wisdom is selflessness.

Solomon had to be selfless to be the wisest man ever until Jesus.

There are Christians who know what is right. They want to walk in love but continuously find themselves doing the contrary. This has become a struggle. They really want to walk in love but are always selfish and self-centered.

You don’t have to worry; God has the solution for you.

The Bible instructs us on what we have to do to achieve a certain desired outcome.

For instance, we are told to study the Bible (not read) to come to accurate truth. We read the Bible too but that is for a different purpose. You are not going to come to a deeper truth by reading.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth….2 Timothy 2:15KJV”

In the same vein, you are not going to have character transformation just by studying the Bible.

This is why there are Christians living in sin whilst quoting lots of scriptural verses. This is why there are pastors who preach love without living by love.

For character transformation, one requires meditation.

Meditation on God’s Word programs you for excellence. Through meditation, one’s spirit, soul and body gets synchronized to be a doer of the Word

“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all….1 Timothy 4:15-16KJV”

When you understand the importance of meditation, that it is what is going to program you to be able to do God’s Word and having the knowledge that no matter what you do if not informed or motivated by love, it is going to profit you nothing, you will channel all your effort to continuously meditate on the love of God.

Spend considerable time to meditate on the love of God, for love is the greatest.

God bless you!
