Matthew 9:11-12KJV

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, they that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

When you say, “I am a Christian”, it thus suggests that Jesus has become your example in all you do. So Paul says

“Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ…..1 Corinthians 11:1AMP”

We are to imitate Jesus in everything and soul winning is no exception. Jesus becomes our example in soul winning. Many times there are Christians who don’t exude the Christ character when it comes to dealing with sinners. They go out of the church, pointing fingers at the sinners of the world but turn a blind eye to evildoers in the house of God. They turn a blind eye to Christians living in sin whilst accusing sinners. They call that Grace. This is not grace but ignorance. Ignorance gone on rampage. It’s imperative for preachers and Christians alike to understand that Jesus didn’t die for Christians. Jesus died for sinners. This is what many still haven’t been taught to understand.

Paul says,

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely will one die for a righteous man, yet perhaps for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us….Romans 5:6-8KJV”

Jesus died for the ungodly; He died for sinners and not Christians. When that sinner receives the salvation of Jesus and is regenerated and attended to by the physician to become whole again, that product is what is referred to as the Christian. The Christian doesn’t require any physician. When he is sinning, it’s like a human being barking. What we do in that case is to correct, straighten and show to him that humans don’t bark, that Christians are not supposed to be sinning.

The same way any well-trained doctor or nurse understands that the sick patient has a medical condition, he is unwell and hence ought to be handled with love, care and patience, we ought to attend to the sinners of the world with such an understanding.

Jesus didn’t die for Christians. He died for homosexuals, prostitutes, armed robbers, adulteress, extortionist, drunkards, witches etc. He died for spiritually sick people

Paul said to Timothy,

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief…..1 Timothy 1:15KJV”

Jesus came into this world as a spiritual physician to save sinners. So He told these hypocrites of Pharisees, it is the sick that needs a physician. As a Christian, you have been sent to the world to save drunkards, homosexuals, murderers, thieves, adulteress, extortionist, witches etc.

When you start pointing fingers at them and accusing them, you have failed from the very start.

If they were sound, Jesus won’t send you to save them. Therefore our approach to the world should be marked by wisdom. We have to proffer love and not hatred. We have to be intercessors and not accusers. You can’t be both

Paul the Apostle says,

Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers), make the most of each opportunity [treating it as something precious]. Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one [who questions you]…. Colossians 4:5-6AMP”

God bless you!
