Matthew 6 :7-8KJV

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him

Be not like the worshippers of baal when you pray, Jesus says. The preacher admonishes

“Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few…..Ecclesiastes 5:2KJV”

There are a certain crop of Christians who see prayer as a medium of informing or convincing God to help them. It shouldn’t be so. God doesn’t need anyone to inform him about the happenings of this life. The fact that you are in a problem doesn’t mean that God doesn’t see or doesn’t know.

The Bible says

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do…..Hebrews 4:13KJV”

Nothing in this world escapes God, absolutely nothing. Prayer is not also a medium or platform you use to convince God. You are not more righteous than God.

If you are not happy about any evil in your life or the lives of others and earnestly want a change, you couldn’t want it more than God. You are not more righteous than Him. Actually, you are now righteous because you have His righteousness.

When you understand these, prayer takes on a new meaning in your life and you will have faith in your prayers too, that prayer is a medium through which you take hold together with God to bring a change in a situation that God is so passionate and desirous about.

If God is so passionate about it, why does He need me to pray. Can’t He just go on and do it?

He needs to be invited. Not all Christians have been taught well about prayer. God needs your invitation. You have to understand the spiritual principles that govern the universe. This is one of the reasons why we pray, there are other spiritual implications

When you understand that prayer is not a means of informing or convincing God, you are good to go

Someone then may ask, what about Hezekiah? Didn’t he pray to convince or change the mind of God following the prophetic message from Isaiah?

No, God didn’t need any change of mind or convincing. It was Hezekiah who needed a spiritual orientation and positioning? Would he have died if he hasn’t prayed? Yes! But it doesn’t mean God changed His mind. It’s important we understand the ways and mysteries of life.

It’s not God who needs convincing. If you can convince God to do good, you must be a very great person. No! The Most High need no convincing, you need a spiritual positioning.

He says,

“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed…..Malachi 3:6KJV”

God bless you!
