Philippians 2:8-9KJV

 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

 

Paul says, let this mind be in you which was in Christ

You have to understand that promotion comes from God and when God wants to promote you no man born of a woman can stop it, not even another Christian.

The life and destiny of every Christian is full of promotions both spiritual and natural. God planned each of our lives in such a way. The Bible says

“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day….Proverbs 4:18KJV”.

Your life has to shine brighter and brighter.

The problem is that men themselves have defined what promotion and success is and many times success to them is to outdo that other neighbor

You don’t measure your life by comparing it to another person; you measure it by comparing it to your past.

True promotion is first spiritual before natural. True prosperity is spiritual; the spiritual should be more valuable to you than the natural. This is because the spiritual abides forever but the natural will soon come to an end.

God talks of people who were men of faith but were destitute, rejects of society, walking in caves and dens, these were people that the world considered as low lives and impoverished but let’s observe God’s report concerning them

“They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth…..Hebrews 11:37-38KJV”

These were people who were destitute, they wandered in deserts and in mountains but as long as God was concerned, these were His great men and women, to God the world didn’t deserve them. The world rather were not worthy of them

See things the way God does because at the end that’s what will really count.

Jesus had to be obedient even unto death if He was to be exalted; it is not going to be different for any other. Obedience comes before true spiritual promotion

Many times there are people who don’t want to follow the process. They want to do things their own way and wouldn’t follow the path that God created for them

Why do some Ministers go into occultism? These folks want influence and greatness but are not willing to follow the process. They want to take it by themselves and hence resort to demonic activities. What a shame! All that will bring is destruction, shame and utter disgrace at the very end.

It pays to follow due process. Follow His Word and plan; it was no different for Jesus Himself.

When God Himself became flesh, He had to follow due process. Who are we not to follow?

Paul says,

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”

The “wherefore” was His obedience to God’s ways, plan and will even unto death.

He was obedient unto death. Death even will not stop Jesus from obeying the father.

So Paul knew that Jesus was the example for all and sundry to follow. Paul copied the example of Jesus, he followed his Master

So he told the Christians at Caesarea

“What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus….Acts 21:13KJV”

Paul was ready to die for God’s cause.

No matter what it will cost you, be obedient. For obedience will always come before promotion. Since Paul knew that he had been selflessly obedient. He could finally write to Timothy and say

 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing….2 Timothy 4:7-8KJV”

The promotion, a crown of righteousness awaits Paul.

Be obedient!
