By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang Hebrews 12:14KJV Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord, The writer of Hebrews admonishes saying, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”. The Lord will have nothing to do with any man who doesn’t walk in holiness. This warning was not to unbelievers but to Christians. God chastises His children, He even sometimes flogs. Grace doesn’t mean no chastisement or scourging as have been wrongly assumed. There are preachers who have made it a habit not to preach the whole counsel of God. God sometimes scourges and flogs. He wills rather the scourging lead to repentance than the Christian abiding in sin to end up in hell. The era of Grace doesn’t mean sin is tolerated. Even John, the Apostle of love wrote to the church and said, “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous….1 John 2:7KJV” There was a deception in John’s day, the same in this present time of the church This same great Apostle of the Lord said to the Christians, “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming…….1 John 2:28KJV” Christians who don’t pursue holiness will be ashamed at the return of Jesus. All the chastisement and scourging of the Lord is so that certain Christians don’t come to this fate. He loves them so much and wouldn’t want them to end up this way. He didn’t say that because I paid on the cross, if you go on sinning it doesn’t matter The Lord rather said, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent…. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…….Revelation 3:19,22KJV” The Pastors who don’t rebuke and chastise, all in the name of love and Grace, are you wiser than Jesus? The Bible says, “ For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth……Hebrews 12:6KJV” Why does He do all these? “Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness…….Hebrews 12:9-10KJV” Is all for holiness. When you get born again, the Holy Ghost makes your spirit holy; the spirit is cleansed from all impurities of sin. Your responsibility as a Christian is to make sure that your soul and body remain sanctified. This you do by pursuing holiness. Christianity is a call to pursue holiness. .God bless you!
