Ecclesiastes 12:1AMP

Remember [thoughtfully] also your Creator in the days of your youth [for you are not your own, but His], before the evil days come or the years draw near when you will say [of physical pleasures], “I have no enjoyment and delight in them”

Remember your maker in the days of your youth! Remember Him!

There are Christians who live for the things of this world. They define success by the world’s value system. You find them busy everyday. They are so busy making  money. Why? They want to acquire as much as they can. All these are driven by the lust of the eyes and of the flesh and not by the recreated human spirit.

They want to be wealthier than Brother A or Sister B so that the air will be filled with the praises and plaudates of men.

Even some of the people they started this journey with, the journey of just being busy in acquiring and acquiring have passed away. Some of their competitors have passed away but that didn’t stop them. They have to satisfy that lust.

They don’t really understand why they are on earth as Christians; they were not fortunate to meet anyone who could straighten them out. Like the Laodician Christians, their pastor may be as materialistic as them.

When they have clocked seventy years and they see that it’s all coming to an end, they lose interest and delight in the physical pleasures. They realize that all what they thought was success was really not; they had just been busy with the cares of this life.

They have wasted years and time on the fleeting things of this life.

The Psalmist says,

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom…….Psalm 90:12KJV”

He says,

“Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding…..Proverbs 4:7KJV”

God lived some thirty-three years on this earth as a man, He was even a carpenter. His life on earth was not about acquiring and acquiring. He didn’t even enroll into any educational system. There were “PhD” holders in those days but Jesus didn’t go for a PhD.

The Bible talks of the doctors of the law. These were learned folks, people with “PhD” in the mosaic law. He went after only one thing, after souls

Success is not money, it is not having a profession, it is not having a masters or a PhD. It is not building a business conglomerate. No! That is not success.

The pagans and atheists are millionaires in dollars; there are Muslims and pagans who are lawyers, doctors, scientists, professors and politicians. Some of them are astute businessman. Does that mean they are successful?

Don’t be deceived by the world’s way of thinking.

Jesus said,

Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth……Luke 12:15KJV”

Since I don’t measure success by money and material possessions therefore don’t be covetous, this is what Jesus is saying.

Till the Christian understands the true meaning of success, he will not know the purpose of Christian prosperity. One day, we will meet our maker, everyone will. It is a day of reckoning, a day of accountability. If you will account then what you thought belonged to you, really belonged to God. You are a steward. Therefore, Remember your maker! Remember Him, now that you still have time to make changes.

God bless you!
