By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang John 17:18NIV As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world If you are a Christian wondering why you are on earth, the answer is found in what Jesus said about the church. What should be important to us is that which Jesus said about the christian and not the standards that the world has set for us Somebody may say but this statement was to the then disciples. No sir, the statement the Lord made applies to every Christian. In that same passage of prayer, He said, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also who shall believe in Me through their word,…..John 17:20KJV” The Master said, all what I have been saying doesn’t apply to only these Apostles and disciples who are presently with me but to any one who will later believe in me. So it applies to every Christian. After Jesus resurrected from the grave, He made the same statement again “And when He had so said, He showed unto them His hands and His side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, “Peace be unto you. As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you……John 20:20-21KJV” “As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you” For what purpose was Jesus sent to the world? “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst……1 Timothy 1:15KJV” Like all other Christians, Jesus too had a career, a profession. The Lord was a carpenter but that wasn’t the primary reason God the Father put Him on earth. “Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him……Mark 6:3NIV” This is what Christians are to understand; your primary purpose for life is not in that profession you find yourself. It’s not to be a lawyer, a doctor, a scientist or entrepreneur. Like Jesus, these are things you borrowed from the world. Every Christian is a member of Christ therefore your primary purpose on this earth is tied to His purpose, which is the salvation of sinners. You are on earth to help Jesus build Zion. You see, what has kept Jesus these 2000 years in heaven is that He has apportioned a time to the church to help him build Zion. When Zion is fully built, He will descend to this world. So the Psalmist says, “When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory……….Psalm 102:16KJV” It is not your goals, dreams and personal desires that have kept Jesus in Heaven. He is not waiting for you to complete that university; He is not waiting for you to marry. He is not waiting so you can build that mansion. No! “When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory” This should tell the Christian what should be most important in his life. Not that profession but the ministry of reconciliation handed over to you. There are some Christians who are shy of preaching the Gospel to people but these same Christians are not shy of making presentations when it comes to their education and profession. They are not shy when they have to make a presentation to attain a PhD, masters, a contract or complete medical school. They are rather ashamed of preaching Jesus, the man who shed His blood to save us from hell, the lake of fire and eternal damnation. How unwise can such people be? He says, “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels….Luke 9:26KJV” Never be ashamed of preaching Jesus, never. There are some women who think they are too sophisticated to preach Jesus to others. Such is ludicrous Jesus said, “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels” This should tell you how He sees Christians who are not preaching the Gospel. You don’t have to go far, you can start with your family or friends
