2Thessalonians2:3KJV

Let no man deceive you by any means, for that Day shall not come, unless there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

“Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come, unless there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” were the very words of Paul the Apostle.

You are not to be deceived by any means regarding the timeline for the return of the King till you see the great apostasy and the unveiling of the antichrist.

Paul here gives us two important events that will earmark the very soon return of the Lord, the great apostasy of the church and the manifestation of the antichrist.

Till these two happen, ignore any one who comes telling you that the church is going to be raptured to meet Jesus. These two ought to happen first.

Among the two, Paul alludes to the fact that the apostasy of the church will take place first.

There will be a great falling away of some Christians from the faith before Jesus returns. This even happens before the antichrist comes on the scene therefore be careful.

Throughout church history, there have been several apostasies of individuals and groups of Christians. Many have cross-carpeted to other religions or to become atheist. So apostasy itself is nothing new in the church. The same way some Muslims become Christians, Christians do also fall apostate to become Muslims or join other religions. This was even evident in John’s day

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us. But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us…. 1 John 2:19KJV”

So apostasy is nothing new. What then is unique about this final apostasy being prophesied about?

The Apostasy that Paul talks about in his epistle to the saints at Thessalonica will be a mass apostasy. It will involve a great number of Christians. It will be very pronounced. This is something that will be opened to the eyes of the church. We will know it when it happens.

Paul will not give it as one of the events to consider if it will not be exposed to our very eyes.

Therefore, Christians should be very careful especially in these days because we are in the end times. You ought to be steadfast and resolute in the faith. This is a time to encourage your walk and deep fellowship with the Lord because we are just there. The end of all things is coming soon, very soon.

God bless you!
