By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang John14:6KJV Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus didn’t pay on the cross only to redeem the sinner from his sins but also from the ungodly traditions, way of life, behavior and customs of the forefathers. “ For ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain way of living which ye received by tradition from your fathers…..1 Peter 1:18KJV” The sinner was redeemed from the vain traditions of his fathers. When you become a Christian, Jesus becomes your culture and customs. The Church has her own customs and culture and it is very important Christians get that understanding. This is why the New Testament epistles throw light on women’s dressing and hairstyle. Paul wrote to a gentile church at Corinth, admonishing them not bring into the church the ungodly customs of the society in which they lived. “But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God…..1 Corinthians 11:16KJV”. The Church of Jesus has her own practices and customs There are Christians who engage themselves in cultural festivals, most of which are associated with demonic rituals. How can you be a Christian and be involved in an activity where libations are poured? There are even certain traditional marriages of Christians where libations and all kinds of ungodly rituals are performed. Paul says, “You cannot have fellowship with God and with the devil” Most of these customs and traditions have a link to satan. They even have certain funeral rites, which are associated with demons, and you have Christians engaging themselves in such. It is wrong Anything you do as a Christian, you should ask yourself if it glorifies God? The Bible says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him….Colossians 3:17KJV” Every deed should glorify God. This doesn’t mean that the church is anti-culture but that you should only allow those things in the culture of your fathers, which do not contradict God’s righteousness. God bless you!
