By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang Mark 16:17KJV And these signs shall follow them that believe……… When the Lord Jesus said, these signs shall follow them that believe, He meant that by these marks, tokens and signs you can separate out those who are Christians and those who are not. This is what distinguishes Christians from non-Christians. He was telling the earlier Jewish disciples on how they were going to know those who have believed the Gospel from those who havent because He was sending them to preach the Gospel. “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe;……Mark 16:15-17KJV” These are the characteristics of the new creature, the Christian. Like we say “the characteristics of a human being”. These are supposed to characterize a human being and you expect every human being to share in it. Every human is expected to respire. When one is not doing so, it means there are complications, there is a problem. It’s not normal In the same vein, the signs that Jesus gave are supposed to be the normal characteristics of every Christian. Now, one of the signs was “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover….Mark 16:17-18KJV” Deadly things are not supposed to harm the Christian. This is what you need in these days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your characteristic is “deadly things cant harm me”. This is ridiculous, Bro. Alex. How can this be true when we have seen many Christians dying from the COVID-19 and other similar ailments? Wisdom says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thine heart;for they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh…..Proverbs 4:20-22KJV” God didn’t say that you are protected just because you are His Child. He says, even though you are my son, you have to heed to this instruction to be in health. So it’s only those Christians who hold on to the Words of Jesus, “they shall drink any deadly thing and it shall not hurt them”. Life is full of choices. You make a choice whether to believe God or not. Its up to you. This is why pastors and Christians can die from the COVID even though it shouldn’t be. Jesus said, “Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock.And the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock….Matthew 7:24-25KJV” This is the Jesus who said, “they shall drink any deadly thing and it shall not harm them” Will you build your life upon these Words in these days? That too is a choice. Faith is a choice, a choice to wholeheartedly believe God’s Word God bless you!
