1 Timothy 6:6KJV
But godliness with contentment is great gain

What is the doctrine of Christ? It is the doctrine of godliness, a teaching which’s intent is to instill a godly nature and character in man, a doctrine of piety
“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;……1 Timothy 6:3KJV”

The doctrine of Christ is not a teaching to make you a millonaire or billonaire, its focus is to conform you to the righteous character of God. He will bless you financially and when He does, it is for two main reasons. Its to give you sustenance and a means to advance His cause of righteousness. To think otherwise and assume financial gain as godliness is to deceive yourself.

The one whose doctrine it is, said “…….Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth….Luke 12:15KJV”

Therefore if anyone posing to be a minister of the gospel preaches otherwise, he is ignorant, proud and destitute of the truth.

Don’t be covetous but have the right motivation for prosperity. The motivation should be a prosperity to advance God’s work, not that you want to amass wealth because of the plaudits of men.

Don’t be a fool, be rich unto God and not to yourself.
Who is the covetous?

“And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God…….Luke 12:16-21KJV”

“So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God”

Are you laying up treasure for yourself?

Many Christians are covetous without even realizing, they are so at home in this world and don’t know who they really are.

Like that certain rich man, their drive in life is to work, store and lay up money for themselves. They havent understood the meaning and purpose of life The doctrine of Christ is a training in righteousness. Righteousness is God’s culture, His way of life.

It is a doctrine according to godliness.
