Revelation 2:17KJV

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

 

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” was the Master’s instruction. It was not said to the world but to the church, to the Christians.

Therefore the Christians that have ears to listen will hear, those that don’t will not.

It’s like what Jesus said to the Jews

“Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word…..John 8:43KJV”

His word had no place in them. Its like some Christians, no matter the truth you preach to them, they will rather believe in a lie that may take some to hell

The lie that tells them that since they believe in Jesus, they have an automatic license to the Kingdom no matter how they live.

No, Jesus says that you ought to overcome. It’s either you overcome or are overcomed. There is no middle ground.

Peter talks about those Christians who even though they came to Christ allowed themselves to be overcomed and entangled again by sin. Such folks will not make it to the millenial Kingdom

“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them…..2 Peter 2:20-21KJV”

These were the Christians that the Spirit was warning. He says, overcome.

He is talking about the Christian who goes to church, he may even be an usher but abiding in fornication. He may be an elder but abiding in adultery. He says, overcome. 

Don’t be overcomed and entangled again by the pollutions of this world. Don’t be deceived by ignorant and false teachers who come with feigned words telling you that because of grace, it doesn’t matter. It matters, overcome

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction….2 Peter 2:1-2KJV”

Jesus said to the Sardis Christians,

“Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels………Revelation 3:4-5KJV”

He looked at the entire church of Sardis and found only few as qualified to be in His Kingdom.

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Church
