By Apostle Alex Adusei Agyemang Romans 12:2KJV And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. When Paul the Apostle told the Christians in Rome to renew their mind, he meant exchanging their thoughts for the thoughts of Christ. Thoughts are the ingredients that control and drive life. A man or woman is not going to be different from the way he or she thinks. So He says, “ For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee……..Proverbs 23:7KJV” A person may pretend with words but if his or her heart is not in that thing, you are just wasting your time and effort. You have to understand that every human being on earth has a mindset or thought pattern, this mindset is going to determine how you act and communicate. You have a mindset on what life is, on what success is, marriage, prosperity, health etc and this mindset determines your conduct and decisions on such issues. Now because of that thought pattern, you will think your point of view is right and others are wrong. Think about that, when people believe they are right it ‘s because of a mindset they have adopted. So He says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord pondereth the hearts……Proverbs 21:2KJV” This is why you have to be very careful as a Christian,the fact that someone speaks very strongly on any issue doesn’t necessarily mean that he or she is right. How is this thought pattern or mindset built? The mindsets of men and women are built by a group of factors. It includes how they were raised at home, the culture and traditions of their forebears and ancestors passed on to them, the society they live in, their associates, the education they received in school, the movies they watch, the music they hear, the books they read and their own analysis of things. These all work together to give man a mindset. You have to understand that no one is born with a mindset, the world gives it to you. Someone is going to treat you in a certain way just because of a movie he or she watched, think about that. All these factors are what God brands as foolishness. He says, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness………1 Corinthians 3:19KJV” The opinions and point of views that they glory in is what God sees as foolishness. It matters the wisdom that governs your life. When you become a Christian, He tells you to renew your mind. What does that mean? It means whatever thought pattern that society and your upbringing have given you on any issue if God said something different, throw away what the world, society, family, culture and the university are saying and replace it with what God said. He wants you to form a new mindset. This is what Jesus meant when He said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God…….Matthew 4:4KJV” It doesn’t matter how much you pray, till you change thought patterns you cant and wont bring God’s permanent will into any issue God bless you!
