1 Corinthians 3:14-15KJV

If any man’s work abides which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Why are some Christians spiritually indolent? It is because of a wrong understanding of grace. The average Christian has been made to think that when Jesus returns, all Christians are going to have the same ranks in His Kingdom.

No! Though no Christian is going to rule over another Christian, there will be ranks in the Kingdom. There is a great in the Kingdom and least in the Kingdom.

Jesus Himself talked about it, don’t let anyone deceive you. Why do you think Paul was so busy about the things of God, to the extent that he even chose not to marry? He was very much aware of the rewards that selfless servitude in the Kingdom comes with.

He was not after the corruptible things of this world, things that you get to enjoy for some years on earth but eternal rewards, rewards that will endure forever. After he had ran his course on earth, he wrote to Timothy and said,

I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me on that Day — and not to me only, but unto all those also who love His appearing………2 Timothy 4:7-8KJV”

He knew there was a crown awaiting him. This same Paul was the one who wrote to the spiritual babes at Corinth who were in envy towards one another, worldly and not busy about the things of God.

He warned them to know and understand that even though God will save a Christian who continuously sin and repent, they should understand that for every unrighteous deed, they will suffer loss.

There is a difference between salvation and rewards. Salvation has to do with what Jesus did on the cross. It has nothing to do with you. Rewards have to do with how much you lived for Him. Rewards have to do with how much you did with that grace granted you. They are two different things.

Over the years, I came into contact with Christians who I realized were wrongly led and taught.  They had misconstrued the two.

Don’t think that you are going to be equally rewarded like that Christian who was serious and busy about the things of God, when you were focused on the things of this world.

Wisdom says,

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise….Proverbs 11:30KJV”

The one who wins souls is wise. Again, He says

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever…….Daniel 12:3KJV”

When you see young men, young women, old men and old women busying themselves about the work of God and not after the luxurious things of life, it is not that they are fools. They have come to understand that whether money or any luxury, they get to enjoy them for a few years on earth but the eternal rewards that come with living and standing up for the works of Christ will be forever and ever.

Be wise to invest your time, money and other resources in the things of God, you will be glad that you did.

Don’t wait to one-day say, “I wished I had done it”. There are many Christians dead and gone who wish they could come back and rewrite certain wrongs and decisions they made in life but they cant. You are here now, let every moment count.

Live for God and His works. Let your life be about that and not the empty and vain things of this life.

He says,

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be……..Revelation 22:12KJV”

It will be according to your works and not what He did on the cross. The cross is for your salvation; your works are for the rewards.

God bless you!
